You can use a number of applications to convert JPG to Vector. However, most of the software are either expensive or have different other issues. You can use an open-source freeware program to perform this task known as Inkspace.
You’ll Need:
- Inkscape (an open source freeware vector imaging program)
Instructions
- Download and Install Inkscape.
- Launch the program.
- Click file from the Menu bar and then select “Import”.
- Browse your computer to find the JPEG/JPG file you want to conver to Vector.
- Select Image files and click “Ok” or double click the file.
- On menu bar select “Path” and the click on “Trace Bitmap.”
- On the lower left, select the option for “Colors” and increse the number of scans a few times and click “Update”. The purpose of raising the number of scans is to increase the resolution of the image which increases the size of the file as well as the time of rendering.
- Do not forget to click “Update” everytime you make a change.
- Save to file to Vector image formats. EPS is always recommended by most applications.
