PDF is an acronym for Portable Document Format, a file format designed by Adobe Corporation. This file format is developed in a view of easy transferring of documents through the Internet.

There are several different reasons for which users convert their files to PDF, e.g. sending a uniform file to many recipients, transferring files from one OS to another, or having a presentation printed out are some major reasons. Some sites offer free services online such as doc2pdf and ExpressPDF where you convert your Word files to PDF online. Just upload your Word file and it will give you PDF file within few minutes.
Converting MS Word Documents to PDF Using a Document Converter
Selecting document converter as default printer is the solution to convert your Word files to PDF files. For selecting your document converter as your default printer: go to Start à Control Panel à Printer and Faxes. In the list, locate your document converter, right click on it and choose ‘Set as Default’.
In case you have another printer attached onto your system, you can select document converter from the Print window pop-up.
Steps to Select Document Converter as Non-Default Printer
- Open the Word file. Go to File à Print and there select your document converter.
- For Adobe PDF printer, click OK and designate the filename and location and press ‘Save’.
- For Universal Document Converter, open Properties and select Document to PDF, Color, and Multipage. Click Ok and Print.
